Our practice nurses are seen by appointments made at reception. They help in health promotion in addition to general nursing duties.
They can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and dressings. The practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes, minor ailment clinics and carry out cervical smears.
Our phlebotomists come from the George Eliot Hospital and take many of our blood tests on a Monday morning and Thursday afternoon. These appointments are booked through the receptionist.
The Practice Manager is responsible for managing the work of all clinical and non-clinical staff to ensure service delivery in practice and all operational aspects within a specified practice/s to achieve excellent customer service, quality, cost and delivery performance in line with company strategy, goals and values. Provide support and direction to enhance performance, skills and knowledge of practice staff within the practice/s. To work closely with the organisation to deliver a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. The practice manager supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care. If you have a complaint, criticism or suggestion please ask at reception to speak to her. Your views are always welcome and help us provide the best possible service to our patients
Suzanne deals with a lot of IT, maintenance and administrative issues. She also supports the practice manager in maintaining high standards in the practice.
Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses.
They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries, dealing with financial claims, dealing with patient records and carrying out searches and practice audits.
Type up referral letters and will follow-up hospital appointments and will also help deal with any problems arising with choose and book appointments.
Help with antenatal and postnatal care and run antenatal clinics at the surgery every week.
Nurses are based at the health centre to provide care to patients in their homes. Contact directly by telephoning 0121 465 5444, or by referral from your doctor.
They deal with continence and terminal illness and also run a leg ulcer clinic at the surgery on a Tuesday.
A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social wellbeing.
The health visitors can be contacted directly on 465 2552.
Diane is a registered nurse (RMN) and a specialist practitioner in Community Mental Health. You can be referred to Diane through your doctor and therefore arrange an appointment through reception. Clinics are on Monday mornings 09:00 – 12:00 and Monday afternoons 12:30 – 15:30.
